What is the Apex Legends Random Legend Picker?
The Apex Legends Random Legend Picker is a free browser-based randomizer. Pick a random legend from the full roster, or narrow by class (Assault, Skirmisher, Recon, Support, Controller). A fair-pick algorithm biases each roll toward legends with the lowest session count so you cycle the roster cleanly. Perfect for squad-queue challenges, drop-in-and-pick sessions, or anyone rolling only Octane and Wraith on autopilot.
This is a fan-made utility and is not affiliated with Electronic Arts, Respawn Entertainment, or Apex Legends. Apex Legends is a trademark of EA. Legend names are referenced by text only for informational gameplay use.
How to Use
- Pick a class pill, or leave on All Classes.
- Click Roll Legend, or press Space or R.
- Watch the reel spin and lock on a legend.
- Click Undo (or press U) to revert the last roll.
- Click Reset session (or press C) to clear counters.
Key Features
- Fair-pick algorithm. Biases toward lowest-count legends.
- Class filter. Assault, Skirmisher, Recon, Support, or Controller.
- Full 2026 roster. All current legends including Sparrow and Alter.
- Keyboard shortcuts. Space, R, U, C.
- Counters persist. localStorage saves counts.
- 100% client-side. No account, no tracking.
How the Fair-Pick Roll Actually Works
Under the hood the picker keeps a per-legend counter for every name on the roster: 6 Assault legends (Ash, Ballistic, Bangalore, Fuse, Mad Maggie, Revenant), 6 Skirmishers (Alter, Horizon, Octane, Pathfinder, Sparrow, Wraith), 5 Recon (Bloodhound, Crypto, Seer, Valkyrie, Vantage), 6 Support (Conduit, Gibraltar, Lifeline, Loba, Mirage, Newcastle), and 4 Controllers (Catalyst, Caustic, Rampart, Wattson), 27 in total. When you hit Roll Legend, the script scans whichever pool your class pill selects, finds the lowest session count in that pool, keeps only the legends tied at that minimum, and draws uniformly from those finalists. The result: you cannot get a third Octane while any Skirmisher still sits at two picks.
The slot-machine reel is pure theater: the winner is decided before the animation starts, and the reel just scrolls 35 random filler rows for 2.8 seconds before landing on the predecided name. Counts are written to localStorage after every roll, so closing the tab between matches does not wipe your cycle.
Worked Examples
Fresh session, Controller pill active. The pool is Catalyst, Caustic, Rampart, Wattson, all at count 0. Four consecutive rolls might land Rampart, Wattson, Catalyst, Caustic, each exactly once. Only on roll five can a repeat appear, since every Controller now sits at count 1.
All Classes, late in a session. Suppose 26 legends sit at count 1 and only Crypto remains at 0. The tie group then holds exactly one name, so the next roll is guaranteed Crypto: the roster must finish a full lap before lap two begins.
Limitations and Edge Cases
Counters live in one browser profile on one device, so squadmates cannot share a cycle; each player runs their own picker. Undo reverses only the single most recent roll. One interaction to know about: spam Skirmisher rolls for an hour, then switch to All Classes, and the neglected classes will dominate until their counts catch up. Incognito windows drop localStorage on close, and a freshly released legend may be missing until the roster array gets its manual update.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this tool affiliated with EA or Respawn?
No. Independent fan tool. Apex Legends is a trademark of EA.
Does it upload anything?
No. Every roll is computed by local JavaScript on your own machine, and the pick counters stay in your browser's storage instead of being sent to any server.
